Founded in July 2012 and officially registered as a charitable trust (T273/2012), the Namib Sky Community Trust is dedicated to uplifting the lives of those living and working in the Sossusvlei area. Through the provision of free primary education and nutritious school meals at the Namib Sky Community School, along with a sewing project that offers additional income opportunities for local residents, the Trust is committed to fostering sustainable development and empowerment in the region.
The school currently accommodates 50 children, ranging from pre-primary (age 3) to Grade 4.

The Namib Sky Upper Primary Hybrid Learning Centre
The construction and furnishing of our Upper Primary Hybrid Learning Centre are complete, and lessons are in full swing. This innovative space merges traditional classrooms with digital learning, offering students access to online lessons via interactive screens and computers. The integration of online education enhances the learning experience and provides vital resources that may not be available through in-person instruction alone. Our inaugural group of Grade 4 students has arrived, marking the beginning of what we hope will become a thriving community of young learners. Although the cohort is small, we have high hopes for its growth throughout the year, with plans already in place to introduce Grade 5 in the coming year.

Creativity at Namib Sky Community School
Another exciting development is the establishment of a dedicated art room. Here, children can explore a comprehensive art curriculum, giving them the opportunity to express their creativity and develop new skills. This initiative underscores our commitment to providing a well-rounded, holistic education that nurtures both academic and artistic talents.

At sunrise, in the world’s oldest desert, embark on the flight of a lifetime
Overall, the Namib Sky Community Trust continues to move forward with ambition and purpose, building a vibrant and inclusive learning environment. We are inspired by these positive developments and look forward to witnessing the continued growth and achievements of our students and community in the years ahead.
